Year two student Evie didn’t just move to a new college after her GCSEs, she completely relocated! From her home in Bristol, she made the move to Poole to attend Rockley’s Level 3 Extended Diploma, staying with a host family in her first year - something she said was really ‘scary’ at the time.
Evie first discovered Rockley at the Southampton Boat Show, and didn’t think too much of it at the time due to the distance. It was only during the train journey home where she had a chance to look at the leaflet, that her interest was really sparked!
After doing well at her GCSEs, Evie knew that A-Levels just weren’t for her, and felt excited at the prospect of a more vocational route, especially one that involved sport. Her excitement was justified - she has not only graduated from the course with her Diploma, she has also gained her RYA Dinghy Instructor and Windsurfing Instructor qualifications and will be spending the next three months working in Croatia for Neilson.
Evie has really enjoyed her time at Rockley College, and has made some ‘fantastic friends.’ She has also loved the fact that the college is ‘different to a conventional sixth form setting’ and offered a learning environment that really suited her.
We wish Evie all the luck as she hops on a plane to Croatia!
