Percy, a local from Dorchester and former The Thomas Hardye School pupil, was well on his way to doing his A-Levels, before the realisation that he wasn’t looking forward to the two years that lay ahead. Now, having just graduated from Rockley College, Percy is looking forward to a summer break before embarking on a degree in Marine and Natural History Photography BA(Hons) at Falmouth University.

"Photography is my passion. I’ve also grown up in the New Forest so wildlife is everywhere. It’s just been my life, so I thought I would combine the two."

During his university interview, Percy realised that both his passion for photography and the fact that his educational route was different to many of the other candidates, really ‘set him apart.’

“The workload is much more manageable as the coursework is spread over the two years. I have friends right now who are really stressing over their exams!”

Percy sailed when he was younger and had done some paddlesports, so the course really suited him. Thanks to the free Instructor Academy, he has, along with his Diploma, also walked away with his RYA Dinghy Instructor and Paddlesport Instructor certificates.

Percy has thoroughly enjoyed the course: “The workload is much more manageable as the coursework is spread over the two years. I have friends right now who are really stressing over their exams!"
