From Parkstone Grammar School to Rockley College to Superyachts - Ruby talks to us about travelling the world and her ambitions of pursuing a career in the yachting industry.
I wasn't a big fan of exams and really struggled with the day to day classroom work. I've always loved watersports and have grown up on the water so when I found out about Rockley and the opportunities they offered it was a no brainer.
Outgoing. Adventurous. Bubbly
Thanks to Rockley and the qualifications I gained whilst on the Level 3 Diploma in Sport course, I was able to fly out to Greece for a couple of weeks as an end of season watersports instructor and got to experience the watersports industry in a different country.
I have just finished my Deckhand course with Flying Fish and am currently working towards my PBI, PWCI and Advanced PADI to broaden my knowledge and qualifications. I am hoping to fly out to Antibes and find a deck job on a superyacht at the beginning of the next season.
I would like to be a Bosun on a superyacht somewhere, working towards First Mate.
I have always been surrounded by boats and love the opportunities and experiences that you can gain with them. It has always been an aspiration of mine to travel and to see as much of the world as possible. Working on superyachts will help me achieve this whilst also earning a steady income.
