Rockley are excited to be offering opportunities for motivated, enthusiastic and driven individuals to take on the Watersports Instructor role at our Rockley Point and Poole Park Activity Centres. Our Sailing Instructors provide high quality instruction in a variety of activities to our clients. Whether it be a school group, uniformed group or individual clients, as part of the delivery team you are at the heart of the centre, providing safe and fun tuition for our wide client base.

Role Summary

  • Report to Activity Manager
  • June - September
  • Multi-centre role
  • Coastal Location
  • Uniform Provided
  • Up to £11 per hour

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Provide a high standard of instruction to all students within the group
  • Instruct a variety of activities under the supervision of the Senior Team
  • Deliver some evening entertainment activities as directed by the Senior Team
  • To maintain an excellent standard of customer service
  • Plan and prepare suitable sessions based on experience and previous ability in line with NGB guidance
  • Be a positive role model and demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour, which are expected of students
  • Have high expectations of behaviour, promoting self-control and independence of all learners
  • Deliver all courses and activities on and off the water, in line with the standards required in the Company’s standard operating procedures and local operating procedures
  • Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people, raising any concerns following protocol/procedures
  • As directed by the Senior Team, ensure that clients and staff are aware of and follow our safety procedures and policies
  • Adhere to feedback from ongoing monitoring and evaluation given by superiors
  • Ensure all safety cover is to the highest standard
  • As directed by the Senior Team carry out equipment checks
  • General centre duties such as assisting in the kitchen, cleaning tents, night duty and supervising wash-up area after meals

Experience, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Ideally you will have experience working in a team environment
  • Ideally you will have experience working with young people
  • Experience working in an activity centre environment preferred
  • Ability to motivate
  • Flexible & professional manner
  • The desire to provide good customer service
  • A drive to want to progress and learn

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL

Hold one of the below qualifications:

  • RYA Dinghy Instructor

DESIRABLE

  • RYA Windsurf Instructor
  • BC Paddlesport Instructor
  • RYA Powerboat Instructor
  • RYA Multi Hull Instructor
  • Award MIAS or British Cycling Level 1
  • Enhanced DBS Check (can be obtained)
