As a Duty Café Manager with Rockley, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our cafe. You will play a key role in maintaining high standards of service, food quality, and cleanliness while ensuring smooth daily operations. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and has a passion for hospitality.

Nestled on the shores of Poole Harbour at Rockley Point. Harbours Edge Cafe is a bustling beachside retreat. Partnered with Rockley Watersports, a leading provider of watersports training and activities, our cafe offers a year-round place to chill and watch the world go by. As the holiday season peaks, our cafe becomes a lively hub for visitors heading to the campsite. We take pride in offering a range of snacks, drinks, a welcoming atmosphere, and excellent service to both locals and holidaymakers alike.

Role Summary

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the café, ensuring seamless service and customer satisfaction
  • Provide exceptional customer service, welcoming visitors to Rockley Park and creating a warm, inviting atmosphere
  • Supervise café staff, delegating tasks and providing support as needed to maintain high standards
  • Ensure adherence to café policies, procedures, and quality standards
  • Collaborate with the Beach Club Team/Rockley Point Sailing Centre to promote weekly activities to café patrons
  • Delegate daily responsibilities to café staff, fostering a proactive and organised work environment
  • Engage in general café duties including food and beverage preparation, service, and point-of-sale operations
  • Assist in managing inventory levels, including stock rotation and ordering, to minimise waste and maximise efficiency
  • Support staff training, ensuring team members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge
  • Uphold the café’s aesthetic standards, ensuring cleanliness, organisation, and adherence to brand guidelines
  • Maintain the Costa brand standards to meet external audit requirements
  • Opening and closing the cafe, ensuring all procedures are followed
  • Checking deliveries and reporting any discrepancies or issues to the Cafe Manager
  • Completing necessary paperwork and documentation throughout the day

Requirements

  • Professional and approachable personality, with a passion for delivering exceptional service
  • Previous supervisory experience in a café or restaurant setting is essential
  • While catering/kitchen experience is desirable, it’s not mandatory for this role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must
  • IT skills would be desirable
  • Candidates should possess or be willing to work towards Food Hygiene Level 2 certification, with our support
  • All applicants will undergo reference checks to ensure suitability for the role
