Job Role Summary

Location: Rockley Point Sailing School, BH15 4RW

Working Pattern: 5/6 days per week, based around 40 hours

Fixed Term Contract: Asap – end of September

As the Beach Club Duty Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the Rockley Beach Club and its hire facility. You will be responsible for managing the Beach Club, overseeing the rental of equipment, ensuring the safety of guests, and providing excellent customer service. Additionally, you will lead a small team of hire staff, co-ordinate sessions, and uphold the high standards of Rockley Watersports.

RESPONSIBILITIES

BEACH CLUB MANAGEMENT:

  • Supervise the daily operations of the Beach Club, including equipment rentals, bookings, and customer enquiries
  • Maintain an organised and efficient rental system to ensure smooth transactions and customer satisfaction
  • Monitor equipment levels and ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of equipment with the help of Rockley Point centre management
  • Implement procedures for equipment inspection, repair, and replacement to uphold safety standards
  • Dynamically adjust offerings and promote to holiday makers and day visitors
  • Run taster sessions as and when required

CUSTOMER SERVICES: 

  • Provide exceptional customer service by assisting guests with equipment selection, safety guidelines, and activity recommendations 
  • Address customer enquiries, concerns, and feedback in a timely and professional manner
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere at the Beach Club, ensuring all guests feel valued and supported

SAFETY & RISK MANAGEMENT: 

  • Enforce safety protocols and procedures to minimise risks and ensure the well-being of guests and staff
  • Conduct regular safety briefings and demonstrations for equipment usage and water activities
  • Respond promptly to any incidents or emergencies, following established protocols and coordinating with appropriate authorities if necessary

 TEAM LEADERSHIP: 

  • Supervise and train a team of hire facility staff, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback 
  • Assign duties and maintain adequate staffing levels to meet operational needs with the assistance of Rockley Point centre management 
  • Foster a positive work environment based on teamwork, respect, and accountability 

ADMINISTRATION & REPORTING:

  • Maintain accurate records of equipment rentals, sales, and customer interactions using the company's booking system and administrative tools. Reporting to the Head of Sales and Marketing 
  • Assist in developing marketing strategies and promotional materials to attract new customers and enhance guest experiences

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in beach club management, water sports operations, or a related field
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach 
  • Sound knowledge of water sports equipment, safety practices, and risk management principles
  • Organisational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritise tasks, and problem-solve effectively
  • Basic computer skills as a minimum
  • Valid First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
  • Powerboat Level 2 qualification (desirable)
