Last year saw Rockley host the inaugural sailing events of the Dorset School Games, part of the Sainsbury's National School Sports Week. Now in its fourth year, the Dorset School Games includes two days of sailing events across 25 & 26 June for primary and secondary schools all across the county.
Primary School teams made up of year 4, 5 and 6 pupils, racing against each other on Thursday will be: Upton Junior School, Baden Powell & St Peters, Wareham St Mary Primary, Bournemouth Colligiate Prep, Buckholme Towers, Talbot Heath and Lytchett Matravers Primary School.
Pupils from years 7 - 10 will be representing the Secondary schools on day two, from Talbot Heath, Budmouth College, The Swanage, Lytchett Minster School, Milton Abby School, The Wey Valley School, Avonbourne College, The Bourne Academy, Twynham School, All Saints School and Dorchester Schools (three schools combined).
The Dorset School Games, run by Active Dorset, is an initiative designed to motivate and inspire thousands of young people across the country to take part in competitive sport.
Both days will include racing for pairs, teams and individuals, with each sailor’s result leading to an overall winning school in each event.
The results from the sailing events will now be combined with all others results for the schools to be in with a chance of winning the overall Dorset School Games.
