Our children and young people have been living through one of the most turbulent periods in modern times, having to adapt and deal with unprecedented changes in how they live and learn. The have had to be flexible, cope with new situations and adjust to an ever-changing routine. Students and young people have had to be resilient to change and become accustomed to learning online. They have had to do all of this without their friends and peers and have missed out on social time with friends and family, which is so important in a young person’s development.
While some students have enjoyed online learning and more time spent with family, for others, it may have been challenging and distressing. Given this, it is no wonder that returning to school and college comes with a mix of relief and unease for young people.
We’ve got through this
The sense of community schools offer is essential for students of all ages and bringing students together with a shared sense of achievement that ‘we’ve got through this’ is more important than ever. A great way to re-energise your students sense of community and belonging is with our post-COVID-19 residential trips. Ensure your students are all at ease by allowing them to set off on an adventure together. Remind your students they are strong and capable. Create positive and lasting memories while promoting their wellbeing through new and exciting adventure activities and friendship.
Alleviating anxiety through adventure
Being there for each other is just as important now as it has ever been. Young people may feel anxious or intimidated by the world around them, having not been in groups of people for so long. Packing their own bag and heading off on an adventure trip can slowly develop that independence and bring back a sense of worth. We encourage new friendships and develop existing ones, and what better place to enjoy some quality time together than in the great outdoors!
Looking ahead with positivity
The future is bright, positive and this year will be the year we move forward to achieve great things, but also reflect on everything we have been through. Talk to us about how our trips can bring groups together, they might be just what children and young people need as they adjust to the ‘new normal.’
