We are very excited to announce that Rockley has been awarded the tender by BCP Council to operate activities at Poole Park Lake for the next 10 years, starting April 2026.
“This longer-term lease marks an exciting new chapter, one that gives us the confidence and opportunity to invest in Poole Park, improving our activity offering and delivering for the local community which we have proudly served here for nearly two decades,” commented Pip Woods, Managing Director of Rockley.
Rockley started operating its watersports activities and hire at Poole Park Lake in 2007; since the end of the original seven year lease in 2014, they have operated on a rolling one-year agreement. While we have continued delivering brilliant on-the-water experiences for local families, school groups, and park visitors, the uncertainty since 2014 has limited our ability to make big improvements. This new 10-year lease changes that.
“We are really pleased that BCP concluded that Rockley Watersports are the best people to continue with the watersports at Poole Park. It’s a great venue, and we are looking forward now to the next 10 years and being able to plan as opposed to going from year to year” continued Peter and Lis Gordon, Owners.
With long-term security now in place, we are now planning to provide new activities, a refreshed look with improved facilities, further inclusive and accessible activity programmes and an enhanced environmental focus through sustainable initiatives.
Poole Park’s lake is a uniquely, safe location for watersports and has always been a focal point for visitors to the park. Since 2007, we have welcomed thousands of local young people, including pupils from Baden-Powell & St Peter’s School and Longfleet CE Primary School who have taken part in regular watersports sessions and activity days.
“This 10-year lease will allow us to deepen local relationships and expand opportunities so more young people, families, and community groups can enjoy the water, learn new skills, and feel connected to this fantastic outdoor space,” confirmed Pip Woods.
