Team GB’s Nick Dempsey has had an amazing start to the Games. After a bronze in Athens and getting a silver at the London 2012 Olympics you can see he is pulling out all the stops this year. He recently said: ‘I feel brilliant, I feel great, I feel the best I have ever felt on the board, I feel confident in any conditions. In 15 knots I’m particularly good, it’s going really well.’

He's quite a determined guy. If he can continue to sail well and use the course and conditions to his advantage to hold off the reigning Olympic Champion, Dorian Van Reisselberghe (NED) I feel that adding a gold medal to his current other two Olympic medals is definitely achievable. I'm British so for me Nick Dempsey will win!

After three very strong races yesterday (Thursday 11 Aug) I am really pleased to see Bryony Shaw up in the top ten overall. Number two in the world, Bryony has had a solid regatta so far and placed three really great results yesterday making the most of the wind shifts and conditions. It is very close at the top three spots for the women but with three more races to go and a medal race there is still a lot to gain for Bryony.

I'm so happy to see that windsurfing is still in the Olympics. Although kitesurfing could offer the same thrill for the spectators I don’t feel there is enough grass roots into the sport. For windsurfing there are initiatives like "team 15" and the "techno class" for young sailors to work their way through the ranks up to the Olympic Games.
