Why Choose Rockley?

Don’t just take our work for it, we spoke to some of our pupils and teachers to tell us why they love their sessions at Poole Park:

"It gets you out and moving and it’s fun. I really love sailing. When you go sailing you have all this space and we can be ourselves. Sometimes you feel trapped in a classroom with all the school gates." Riley, King’s Park Academy

"I like how you can go really fast and you don’t have an engine, the power is the wind. I’ve learnt how to deal with the wind and can just do it and enjoy it." Piper, King’s Park Academy

"It helps me think of what I can do when we’re older because when I’m older I’d like to work at Rockley." Cassy King’s Park Academy

"The confidence that it’s given our children is really important to us. For some, they don’t necessarily find school easy, but they get such enjoyment and satisfaction out of it and are achieving real success. Honestly, three years ago we didn’t have anybody sailing, now they all want to do it! It’s given some of them a real sense of purpose in school, especially for those in their final year, of wanting to continue to learn a new skill and a desire to carry on at school." Andy Darch King’s Park Academy

"There’s a real change, a real buzz, and it’s just that excitement and joy it’s bringing to them. It’s the whole person you are developing and it’s the long-term development of these children. If you provide these opportunities you show them that there are more than just the four walls and they will take it on into life and with their own children." Andy Darch King’s Park Academy
