Life before Rockley?
At secondary school I had to choose between a BTEC Level 3 Art at City College Brighton or Outdoor Education Level 3 at Plumpton Agriculture College . Well, I think you know what my decision was in the end!!
How did you come to work at Rockley?
I went to Plumpton Agriculture College for two years. During my first year I took the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma, learning a lot of land based activities including climbing and mountain biking as well as some water based activities - kayaking a canoeing. The college also opened a Sailing Academy whilst I was there which started off my love of sailing and where I gained my first sailing qualifications. During my second year I took part in the Instructor Training Course. I found I enjoyed the practical side of things more than the academic so worked hard to gain my Kayak and Canoe Instructor, Mountain Bike Assistant Leader, and my RYA Powerboat Level 2. By the end of my second year I had achieved my RYA Dinghy Instructor qualification and had secured an interview and a consequent job with Rockley working in France
How long have you worked for Rockley so far?
I have worked five exciting, life-changing, scary (in a good way) years. My first two years were at AzuRivage and the last three years have been at Le Lac, Mimizan
What you have achieved during your time at Rockley?
Since being with Rockley I have gained my RYA Windsurf Instructor, taken part in an advanced sailing training course and gained my RYA Multi Hull Instructor endorsement. Last but not least, my ultimate achievement was achieving my RYA Senior Instructor qualification. Never did I think I would get that far, EVER! Every year, whether I am in France or at Rockley's UK centres, it's crazy the amount of knowledge you gain.
All my five seasons have been a learning curve and last year's season as Activity Manager at Le Lac, Mimizan was AMAZING!
"I am super excited for this year and taking the challenge of Centre Manager at Azurivage. But don't worry, this new role won't make me boring - I still plan on creating mayhem out on that water. I hope everyone has a fantastic season and creates some awesome memories."
Speaking to Rockley's HR Manager, Kat Sargent, this is what she had to say of Kim and her new role: "Kim has worked closely with Rockley's French Manager, Kate Murphy, for a number of years now. She has developed a great understanding of the Rockley product and what life is like as a Manager at the compay's largest overseas centre, Le Lac, Mimizan. This has more than prepared her for her latest challenge and I believe she will make a fantastic Centre Manager at AzuRivage."
