Working at Rockley is more than just a job - it’s a journey filled with adventure, learning, and new opportunities. Whether you start in a watersports role or join one of our activity centres, there are plenty of ways to grow within the company. We caught up with Hannah Cabell, a key member of our Budden’s Activity Centre and Harbour’s Edge Café team, to hear about her experience and why she loves working at Rockley.

FROM THE CAFE TO THE OUTDOOR INDUSTRY

Hannah first joined Rockley when she had just turned 16, applying for a role at Harbour’s Edge Café. Within an hour, she had a call from our HR Manager, Kat inviting her down for an interview - and she hasn’t looked back since! Fast forward to 2025, and Hannah is now entering her fourth season at Budden’s Activity Centre.

Her journey has taken her from a Traineeship to an Apprenticeship and now into her current role as part of the Guest Experience Team. She’s also gained a variety of qualifications along the way, helping her develop new skills and progress within the company. "I have got my Windsurfing Instructor qualification, my RYA Powerboat Level 2, European Ropes Course Association (ERCA) qualification, Archery GB and Paddlesports Instructor certifications. I would also like to get my RYA Dinghy Instructor."

THE PERFECT ROLE

For Hannah, working in Guest Experience is a dream job. “Honestly, I wouldn’t change it for the world,” she says. She enjoys working behind the scenes, making sure everything runs smoothly and ensuring guests have the best experience possible. "Being over at Budden's, working with Jo Tegg, I just like the environment, I like the space. I just love it. I love making things happen behind the scenes while everybody's out in the centre."

“The Guest Experience role is a great way to get started while still interacting with instructors and guests. It eases you into the Rockley way of life and lets you explore different career paths.”

TAKE THE LEAP

If you’re considering joining Rockley but aren’t sure where to start, Hannah encourages you to take the leap: “Absolutely do it! A lot of people think instructing is the only way in, but there are other options. The Guest Experience role is a great way to get started while still interacting with instructors and guests. It eases you into the Rockley way of life and lets you explore different career paths.”

With roles across our various centres and opportunities to gain valuable qualifications, Rockley is the perfect place to build a career in the outdoor and watersports industry. Interested in joining our team?
