Rockley Buddens – Lead Instructor (Seasonal)

Job Role Summary

The role of the Lead Instructor (Seasonal) is to support the Chief Instructors in overseeing all aspects of the delivery of activity across the centre. You will be responsible for high-quality delivery activities on centre, providing an example of what a great instructor is. You will enable our clients to have a successful and enjoyable trip, maintaining client expectations and quality activities in line with activity procedures and standards (APS)

Based in the beautiful Purbeck region of Dorset, this centre boasts 96 acres of countryside, woodland and even its own lake. This provides an incredible environment for us to offer a variety of activities and camping options, a wide range of programmes catering for all kinds of groups, there is most certainly something for everyone.

As a Lead Instructor, you will lead in providing our clients with a safe, enjoyable, and high-quality residential experience. The Lead Instructors may be required to deputise in the absence of the Chief Instructors. You will also support the Chief Instructors in providing adequate training for all staff and making sure that all equipment on site is at an appropriate standard.

Working Pattern: This is a fixed term annualised hours role based on 32hours a week average.

A normal working week would be 5 days over 7 – this role will include weekend and evening work, however, there may be occasions for additional work based on the centre requirements.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Maintain the standards outlined in the company’s APS
  • Assist in the pastoral care and management of our delivery team.
  • Ensure the teams attitude to work, personal presentation, and customer service is in line with the company ethos.
  • Assist the Chief Instructors to provide a safe, well organised, motivated, and happy environment for clients and team alike.
  • To act as role model for new and existing employees in developing a highly enthusiastic and productive team, motivated to deliver our excellent product.
  • Act as Duty Manager as required including overnight duties.
  • Ensure that all relevant administration is completed accurately and filed in the correct location
  • Propose new programmes and sessions to increase and improve the Rockley product.
  • Work with key stakeholders (e.g., Guest Experience Team, Clients) to ensure programmes reflect the desired learning outcomes.
  • Validating feedback from guests prior to and during a visit and assist in implementing alterations to the programme.
  • Working with the Guest Experience Team, being a point of contact with our guests to ensure their time with us meets their requirements.
  • Assist the Chief Instructors to provide supervision and mentoring to the staff team.
  • To assist in the support and development of all centre activities.
  • Maintain the safety of clients and our team onsite including during activities.
  • Ensure clients and staff are aware of and follow our safety procedures and policies.
  • Make sure staff are monitored and evaluated at regular intervals, providing feedback to improve performance.
  • Deliver safe use and management of all equipment in accordance with regulated and advisory bodies, manufacturer’s guidelines, and Rockley APSs.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

  • ERCA Generic Rescuer or BC Paddlesport Leader Award
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Experience working in a team environment.

  • Full UK Driver’s Licence
